The Historical Context of Carnival

This workshop allows youth to dive into the historical context of Carnival. The roots of Carnival run deep and has grown over time. Youth will get the opportunity to learn some facts and leave with the knowledge to know the history behind the beautiful costumes that flood the Lakeshore every summer!

Build your own costume

This workshop gives everyone a chance to become a carnival costume designer. During this experience, participants will get the opportunity to learn how to build either a backpack or accessory pieces - gems, feathers, glue guns and more! We will tap into the history behind building mas and debrief as we go step by step to create our own master piece.

Wire Bra Bending Class

This workshop will teach participants how to measure cut and bend their own wire bra. Wire work is an essential part of carnival and learning how to do it manually is an essential skill.

T.X.D Carnival & Wuk Dance Class

This workshop incorporates the Caribbean moves and cultural dances to the beat and drum of soca music! Prepare to wuk up your waist and break a sweat!
